Collection of Art and Material Culture

Through generous donations, GTI has developed its own collection of art and material culture relating to tea. At present, the collection is comprised of Japanese tea ware and ceramics, basketry, paintings and calligraphy, as well as Chinese, US, and European teapots and tea ware. This collection has already been the basis for several special exhibitions, and is being used for research and teaching in UC Davis courses. We hope to expand the collection to include objects that can help narrate the story of tea culture and production around the world and across time.
